Instructions, formula & limitations

How to use

  1. Enter the supplier unit cost and total quantity in one currency.
  2. Add freight, insurance, handling, and other shipment costs.
  3. Enter estimated duty and import tax rates, then verify the result against local customs rules.

Calculation method

The estimate adds goods cost, freight, and insurance to form a simplified customs value. Duty is applied to that value, tax is applied to customs value plus duty, and handling and other costs are added before dividing by quantity.

Limitations

Customs valuation, duty basis, tax basis, exemptions, Incoterms, anti-dumping duties, and local charges differ by country and product. This planning estimate is not customs, tax, or legal advice.
